Mother- Daughter Art Show

        Patrica Parrish & Cindy Zozak

Pat was born in Little Falls, MN. She grew up on a farm near Upsala, MN. Her earliest memories of drawing were drawing the comics from the Sunday paper. After graduating from high school, Pat attended St. Cloud Teachers College and then taught second grade at International Falls, MN. Pat met Charles Duane "Dewey" Parrish of Waseca, MN, through correspondence set up by their sisters who were in nursing school together. Dewey was in the army. Pat and Dewey were married in 1952. Needless-to-say, the love of painting was put on hold as she raised six children. In 1977, at age 46, Pat attended UW-Oshkosh to complete her 4-year teaching degree. She then taught Special Education at Lincoln School in Beaver Dam until retiring in 1993. Now retired and with an empty nest, Pat and Dewey enjoyed many trips overseas. They traveled to all but one state. In 1996, they became "Snowbirds " in Destin, Florida. The beautiful beaches inspired Pat to start watercolor painting. She has been actively painting ever since. The work you see today are the products of her passion and love of art. Pat wants you to know that it is never too late to start painting.

Cindy (Parrish) Zozak remembers always having an interest in art and creativity as well as a great love of nature which she attributes to her parents. Art, music and theater were influences in the Parrish household as well as actively being a part of the outdoors - from camping trips to gardening. Cindy graduated from Beaver Dam High School and attended Lowithian Institute in Minneapolis, MN, receiving a diploma in art and design. She gained a Bachelor of Science degree from UW Stevens Point with a major in Communications (Public Relations and Advertising) with minor(s) in art and psychology. During this time, she worked as a graphic artist. She became certified in Elementary Education and has taught in the Grafton Public Schools for over 20 years. She has a master’s degree in instructional technology from Cardinal Stritch University, Milwaukee, WI. Cindy lives in Port Washington, WI, were she, too, is inspired by beaches. Her two children (whom she considers to be her greatest masterpieces) and their families live nearby. Cindy enjoys the freedom of expression art provides to capture and share the beauty of the natural world.
